Assess child's learning process
Using Aistear
This is the curriculum framework for children from birth to 6 years old in Ireland. It provides information for adults to help them plan for and provide enjoyable and challenging experiences so that all children can grow and develop as competent and confident learners within loving relationships with others.
To Assess the development of each child's learning process you can:
Step 1 - Click on the pencil button in the red bar and choose the "Assessment" option
Step 2 -Choose the child you want to assess
Step 3 - Choose the option "Aistear" on the curriculum and the period of time you want to assess
Assess e monitoring the work with the group of children
Using Síolta
This is Ireland's National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education, developed by the Centre for Early Childhood Development and Education on behalf of the Department of Education and Skills. Síolta is designed to define, assess and support the improvement of quality across all aspects of practice in early childhood care and education (ECCE) settings where children aged from birth to six years are present.
To monitor the work you are doing with the group of children you can:
Step 1 - Enter your classroom and click in "History"
Step 2 - Scroll down until you find the "Curriculum Report" button and select your class
Step 3 - Define the curriculum Síolta and the period of time you want to reflect
Step 4 - Now you can see and reflect on the standard and components you developed with your group of children. You can also look at the observayions in which you have documented the activities. For that, just click on the green box with the number.
Note: Both the curriculum report and child learning assessment report are not seen by families unless you want them to see.
